Friends, I have been in a bit of a funk lately.  On the outside I look pretty busy and active,  homeschooling my children, writing The Intentional Living Project mini e-course, signing up for dance classes (what am I thinking?).

But my attitude has been that of a spoiled teenage girl (with PMS no doubt).  There are things that I know are true… like your day will never go exactly as you plan it and you do not have complete control over the universe.  Really I understand these things, but I find myself whining and grumping about stuff not going exactly the way I want it to anyway.

I’m kind of sick of that spoiled, entitled girl pouting on my couch.  Really what kind of intentional living guru would I be if I let her hang around all the time?  (Intentional living guru.  I wonder if I can get that on a shirt).

This needs to change.  So in full Sarah on Purpose style… I’m starting a new blog series.

Each week I will be trying out a new habit that “they” say will make me happier or think more positively.

Some of the ideas on my list are:

  • Exercising
  • Better eating
  • Having more sex
  • 20 second hugs with my husband and kids
  • Making my Bed (Gretchen Rubin says it’s a good idea and she studies happiness).
  • Commit to a habit of prayer
  • Learn new things
  • Helping others
  • Practicing letting go of ill will (so forgiving i guess)
  • Restarting a gratitude journal

If a new habit it working to help me have a better outlook on life I will keep it.  If not I will purge and toss it.

I promise to report to you how each of the experiments have worked out and  the interesting stories and experiences that have happened along the way… we except for the have more sex idea.  I do have some discretion you know.
